How it differs from American pool
The key difference is pocket width. In Russian billiards, pockets measure roughly 68-71mm — only a few millimeters wider than the ball itself (~68mm). By comparison, American pool pockets are far wider relative to the ball (~57mm). This makes Russian billiards a noticeably more precise and difficult game.
